I guess I should address this thing from my point of view. This code was implemented to allow ( or force) ppl to think of what they would like to do. It allows for flexablility in the game and would also allow for more varity in the game. I mean 99% of mortals have a sack full of griff's ducks. Thus the code allows every mortal to pick where they stand on food. If I am in town a lot, maybe buying those expensive rations are not really worth it, if I am going to winter perhaps I should invest in some rations or preserved meats, if I am low on cash maybe buying some of those less expensive but easily perished food will hold me over, etc. The point I am trying to make is I would like more varity in the game. When it comes down to it, a lot of characters are merely clones of one and another. I would like for ppl to be more unique, in other word there would be no "best this, best that", but instead you will have to find what is best to suit your current situation.
