You're partially right, but mostly wrong about how changes came to be. Changes are implemented mostly because of the Imms -- for example, the new cabal Assassins isn't from player feedback. The spells and skills for monks aren't from player feedback. To be perfectly fair, the Imms are the most responsible for the changes that happen on the mud, not the players.
Having said that, bug-fixing and play-balance issues ARE partially determined from player feedback. However, as you will note, we as the Imms are the ones that decide whether what you say has merit, and we are the ones who will choose whether to act on or ignore what you have said. If you think the job of Imms on the muds is to cater to every player's whims, good luck on finding a mud like that. We do, and we will continue to do, what we believe to be best for the mud, whether it's by punishing people who are out of line or by implementing new things. It's the Imms that keeps everything straight, so that the mortals can do their things and create their memorable roles, feared killers, or whatever.
Lastly, if you believe the Imms on AR to be acting out of line, then you're free to find another mud. We do our best to answer player concerns here on the forum, and we do read every note written to Immortal even if we don't respond to them, but we realize that we can't make everyone happy. AR might not be for you. But if you think you're pretty special in that you can mouth off the Imms and complain when you get punished for it, then you're just not being realistic. The people who disrespect the Imms are the same people who disrespect the rules that the Imms have made. If you think you can do better than we could, you're free to start your own mud. That's how AR was started, and it has grown considerably since its beginning because obviously we're doing at least a few things right. Good luck to you if you are willing to try the same thing, because I'm sure you'll hear these sorts of complaints from your own players as well.
