My brother is finally on the 460 bandwagon, and is tossing the 351C to the curb.

We need:

429 engine mounts and block plates for 70/71 Torino or cyclone

Big block C4 bellhousing

Thanks in advance,

Block plates

Greg .... these plates and the insulators are sold every so often on Ebay. I see a pair there almost weekly. Go for 55 - 75 dollars a set for good used items.

The insulators are available from Ford and several other sources. D1ZZ-6038- A and B, I think. Better check it out though. They are basically the 429 insulators from the 1971 Mach 1 "J" and "C" code cars.

I just had all the mounts out of my GT, too bad I did not get any part numbers.

I will keep checking on ebay.

By the way, is it true that the rubber insulator is the same from 66-71 big block cars? A guy on ebay is selling new insulators and making that claim.

Thanks,

Greg

Greg, I think the insulators are all the same for the big block Fairlanes, Torinos and Mustangs w. 390-428 and 429 cars from 1970-71. The difference is in the block plates.

I bought two of these sets on EBAY last April, and it is abundantly clear that the insulators are exactly the same. The block plate and frame adapter for the FE is unique, got one set with the other. As you go through Ford manuals, you will come up with all kinds of part numbers for the insulators, but they all come to R/B D1ZZ-6038 - the suffix may have gone from A and B or even just A for both, they are interchangeable, I think.

The block plates are a different story. They have no part numbers on them. They might still be available from Ford, but you will have to go to a dealer to find a pn. They will likely start with a 60XX, being an engine group part, rather than a body or chassis item.

There are people who fabricate them. Someone here probably knows.

Greg, you have one AWSOME car. As I said somewhere on another post, my 470SCJ is not even in the running with you guys.

On EBAY, use: "429CJ" ; "429 Cobra Jet" as primary search keys. With that you also get unique CJ / SCJ items up, usually fewer than 25 items, while if you use "429 Ford" or "460 Ford" you get hundreds of items to look at.
