I posted a couple of weeks ago about putting a 460 in a air boat and got a lot of great feedback. well I'm still working on the prop, gear box, cam combo for the boat.
What cam i'm looking at is the Crane, Power max h-266.
Can someone with a desktop dyno figure Hp-Tq for my 460 so I can figure the right prop?
Here's the specs:
1968 460, stock bottom end (11.0-1 i think)68 heads w/ screw in studs w/ guide plates and roller rockers(1.72),Edelbrock performer, w/ 850 demon, hei ignition, 1 7/8 headers.
The cam specs are:
H266-2 grind,
lift: in. @cam 285 @valve 487"
ex. @cam 295 @valve 504"
@ .050 in. dur. 210
ex. dur. 218
I hope this isn't to difficult, if there is any more info needed i'll try to help. Thanks for the help.
I love this site!!
Wade

Now I could be wrong on some of the info I had to play with the cam timing to get the right Dur. times..

Did you use stock head flow info or ported for your calculations?

My engine analyzer came up with:

406hp@4500, 508tq@3950 for stock heads

but

472hp@5150, 534tq@3950 for mildly ported heads

Seems like a lot of gain for mildly ported heads, especially with the small cam.

Also I had to guess on header collector length.

for the delay in responding to your info.
What would I need to do to get somewhere around 550-570 ft lbs of tq? better cam? better intake? I would rather not take the heads off the motor. Seems like it would be pretty easy to make that much tq since they come from ford with 500, and 365 hp.
I suppose if a mild port job is realy worth that much it would surely be worth taking the heads off. the motor still has the factory pistons in it so I beleive they are @11.0-1 pistons or somewhere close. please forgive me for my ignorance on some of these things, I do love the 460's but have never had the time or resources to do a whole lot of hands on, although I will read anything I can about them.
I fell in love with them in high school when I put a 460 with SCJ heads on it, with the heavy TRW dome pistons machined into flat tops, into my 70 ranchero....it hauled asss, probablythe engine that ford should have built!! Wade

389 hp @ 4500 rpm
516 lbft @ 3500 rpm

This is using the stock, unported flow numbers for a D0VE head from Scott's website and inputting all your other engine specs.

Just switching to Eddie heads those numbers improve to:

496 hp @ 5500 rpm
541 lbft @ 4000 rpm

Just curious if the EMC had been run yet, I have only seen things about next years EMC. If so how did The Fords do?
Thanks for the input on the DTD, I'm going to have to use a little bigger cam to get closer to my goal. I did find out that the heads do have 2.19 ntake valvesin them and also bigger exhaust valves but don't have the size in my mind right now...
I'm hoping this will help me get closer to my goal.

Also have a boss 429 block for sale for a drag racer truck puller, it has been filled up to the water holes.
