I met with the engine builder a few of you recomended in Rochester, NY this Saturday. Matt of ProFormance. Nice guy, I think things will work out.
My question is about running a stroker on the street. I'm still kind of on the fence if I want to do this or not.
Matt showed me a piston that had a lot of wear on the skirt from a stroker motor. He did mention that the piston was from something earlier. I want all the bragging rights and power from a stroker, but I want to be able to drive it anywhere, without fear of something breaking.
Thanks- Sid

I took an engine that was run hard raceing a few years, and but it back togther, with only new valve springs. This thing had some hours on it, and its been fine putting around, and a blast when you stomp it and it breaks the rear end loose whenever you want to. I have not tookit on any road trips. But this thing is as reliable as anything else i drive, and it dont get any special treatment.

What were the specs on this engine? My main concern is the longevity of a motor where the bottom end of the piston skirt is hanging out of the cylinder. Like the proposed stroker combo.

Sid, the really bad piston scuffing is an issue on early blocks running the 4.375 and 4.5 cranks... if you stick with a 501/514 and a long rod you will be fine...

4.150 is a very streetable , piston skirt friendly combination ... I normally sell it with the keith black pistons or diamond if you have more money to spend ....

What brands do you sell. I'm looking at the eagle crank and rods. Not sure about pistons yet. My engine guy is going to measure things up, so that we can decide on a compression figure. That will help me decide on pistons/manufacturer.
