Basically, I agree with some of your proposals. However, some of the proposals you made needs further clarification.
For one, I can’t understand it when you said it’s easier for us to “replace” a president/vice president if his/her term is not six (6) years, or to that effect. What I do know is that we don’t replace them but we elect or change leaders during election time.
Secondly, you proposed, “that immunity from suit should be removed from those who serve in the Senate.” Why only the Senate? How about the House? Are you talking about all those who serve in the Senate? The janitors, secretaries, messengers, guards, clerks, lawyers, Senators, etc.? But seriously, if we do this, our Senators will no longer be an effective reformers because of fear that they will be sued if they try to expose any wrongdoings in the government. Also, the essence of democratic principles will be defeated if we removed this right from our lawmakers.
Thirdly, you also proposed that the number of political parties registered should be reduced. Well, again, participation in election process is one of the main features of a democratic system. Limiting the number of political parties in an election smacks of censorship (not sure if this is the right term!) if not outright dictatorship. Anyway, I think there’s no need for this, because a political party which has no principles and platform will not last in our kind electoral process. What we should put a stop, I think is the political turncoatism. Palipat-lipat na pulitiko, yan ang problema natin.
Finally, your proposal is a positive step that will eventually contribute in the effort for all of us Filipinos to improve the future of our country.
Salamat sa idea mo!
