Do you still remember yourself as a newbie/rookie?

I thought of this post because it seems an interesting topic. As for me, I don't consider myself a rookie anymore. After countless battles and several confirmed kills (including 2 of my closest friends, hehe) I think I've earned the right to consider myself no longer a rookie. The first time I got hit was at close range (about 7 ft.)and it hurt, but then again, pain is what makes any sport worth playing, my opinion that is. How about you, do you still remember the first time you were a rookie and that moment when you realized you no longer are one?

Comrade,

Well said and I salute you for your countless battles and alot of confirmed kills that credited to your side. Thats good. I respect your opinion about yourself. Respect was one thing I've learned when I was a rookie myself. I also had kills myself but I considered it that I was just merely lucky. I also had fought on the field, and it was an honour to play with fellow comrades (1st ASG Cebu, Greenhills Brutal Club, ASG-Philippines, ASG-Davao, Quench, Busay Team, NASL, CAG, SAS, and etc) and I would be very much honoured to play alongside with you...... Peace!!!

Recon 25, I'd Love To Hear Your Story

October 14 2002, 11:38 PM

Wow! You've been in the sport for a long time already. I'm still a newbie myself and I'd love to learn from the non-newbies. What are the best advice you can give me for jungle warfare? I admit I badly need it to learn more.

When was the time you realized you were no longer a newbie/rookie/novice?

Comrade,

It would be a great privilege for me to play alongside with you for the games slated this October in Ayala. We are on the same squad I call "Danny Epili's Little Kids". With Rey, Edwin, Aldrex, Danny, and a whole lot more. There is not much stories to tell but alot of games to be played. I was an "FNG" myself and so does all other men. Just ask around if what "FNG" means. You will know when time comes that you wont be an "FNG" no more. Let us allow time to tell the tales. Another thing, aside from learning how to respect, I also learned not to rush things when I was an "FNG". It will just takes its course...... Peace!!!

Whoa!

Hahaha! Butch envies me because as far as he knows, there are no veterans in his team (yet?).

I met personally only Edwin M., Rey and Aldrex in my team and I know they're some of the best. Guys and gals, I'm so excited to learn from you. I'm one lucky spider!

My first time.

October 14 2002, 11:51 AM

Hehehe. Before I took up this wonderfully exhilirating sport/hobby, I did some internet research and came across filairsoft.com. I joined their forum and posted a topic about my being a newbie. Then this guy name Boyscout gave me some pointers. Before long, we were able to talk on the phone for long. So the first airsoft guy I met was actually Obet and I learned from him the wonders of ASG. I got interested. But before I joined up, I had to try out the game w/ a borrowed gun at Quench. After that short but interesting game, my heart was committed to airsoft and w/in a week I bought my beloved Stoner.

My first serious airsoft game w/ my own gun was at Family Park. I got there and was introduced to some people, some of which were old time ASG guys like Viper. My mindset was that of a grunt, I get my orders from these guys cause they're the veterans of this game. So off I went and hid in the jungles as the defending team. While lying prone, I heard faint noises and realized the enemy was approaching. My heartrate increased and finally saw my "prey" moving slowly and silently through the jungle. I was impressed at the moves that I didnt fire a shot. I waited until they were near and then the rear guard of the 2 man team saw my rifle barrel and started to aim at me. Before he could fire, I fired a short burst at the lead man. Then I felt a sudden pain on my left torso and shouted "hit" as instructed. I was sure I had hit the first man cause it was no more than 7ft. But I guess I didn't aim well because I might have been crosseyed that time

I can't remember anymore my first kill. Not because they are numerous LOL w/c is not the case but because I'm not too conscious about kills. I usually assess myself based on how I react tactically to a situation.

I've learned a lot since that first time thanks to some of the people (ASG and non-ASG) that I've met along the way.

For Me, I'm Still A Dumbie in Airsoft

October 14 2002, 11:32 PM

Although I've played airsoft for more than a month now and I'm not obviously considered a first-timer, I admit I lack the attitude, am slow in understanding orders, in knowing how to handle a gun and its parts, slow in moving, etc.

Well, I've had only a few kills and even those small kills make me so happy already (lo-oy no?) because at least I accomplished a little bit. Basin chamba ra pud. It will take me a lot of time, effort and helpful airsoft experts to make me into a 'real' airsofter.

By tradition...

October 15 2002, 2:50 AM

newbies/rookies are called FNGs...F**kin New Guy/Gal. Watch the movie "Platoon" it's only uttered once in the very early part. Man!!! Watching it gives me that rushing adrenalin!! Try "The Rock" also for those diehard CQB players.

My first time.....

As I have recalled the first time I played airsoft wayback '93 with 1st ASG the first person that Ive noticed was Inspector Gadget. Coz everytime the game was finished their was a lady came to him put some rubbing alcohol and massaged his back at the same time, so for that reason I really have a great respect with this guy. Hehehehe.......
By the way the very first person I hit was Tommy Gun, thats why I love that guy..

My first time...

October 15 2002, 9:59 PM

My first game was at the jungles of Family Park with a borrowed MP5A5 gun of my brother-in-law, Don. I enjoyed the crawling and waiting for opponents and never fired a shot. Hehe. No kill but I got killed in one of the games, maybe two. The game I enjoyed the most was the modified speedball. I like moving around than being in the rear.

Airsoft has taught me patience. I heavily rely on the experts' instructions and I'm thankful they help me out during the wargames. Thanks Viper, Killer Kane, Hitman, Draken and others for all the advice and instructions. Still be needing them desperately for a long time. Also of course to Riot for patiently reminding me until maglalis nalang mi. Hahaha!

Now, I can't wait to be with my ASG teammates, the famous experts. Chester advised me to stick with the best namely Edwin and Dexter so I'll surely learn a lot. I'm blessed to have them as my teammates!

It's true

October 16 2002, 12:16 AM

that a girl was applying theraphy and first aid to me that time, but it was for humanitarian purposes only. Maybe we should revive that practice again, she was one of the spectators. By the way Joe Black's first game was my 2nd or 3rd game. Too bad he wasn't injured that much coz my "nurse" would have been more than glad to apply "first aid" on him also. wink My first kill was on my first game on an FNG who was wearing blue, can't remember who anymore.
