So I dropped off those snomo manuals to the Cpl who used to drive the MkII in Churchill and he was estatic. I quite enjoyed his stories. He absolutely swears by the power/drive train/ease of steering, though he preferred the later grease track tightener versus the screw type. He pointed out the tools and described their use and how the unit was set up. Much preferred over the later Nodwells, except you could use a Nodwell like a bulldozer and just drive through the subarctic bush instead of following roads. Though 18mph top speed ( on smooth road) made the Penguin II a speed demon at 35ish.
Interesting note was if you a plowing through 5-6 inch trees in dense bush you do not follow in the lead vehicles track, you make your own. If you follow you will lose a track surely on the round slippery logs and tangle.
