Is OFA certification something you need to do only if you are showing/breeding your dog, or is it a health test of some kind that we might want to do? We do not intend to breed our Akita, but I have been reading alot on the internet about Akitas and a lot of the dogs are OFA Good, Excellent, etc... I believe this has something to do with the hips? We fell in love with her and although we have had dogs before, this is our first Akita so I want to make sure she is well-cared for and that we are doing our best for her. Any advice would be great! -Thanks!
