You may find using a crate very helpful in bonding with your new akita. The crate will provide the dog with a safe haven and you will have piece of mind.
It don't take long to train them for the crate but make sure you have it in a location where everyone can visit with the dog.
You should have received a package from your rescue group explaining about crating and the training. also contact any local akita rescue clubs around and they will provide you with a wealth of information on how to help your rescue adapt to you and you to your rescue.
