Hi all,
A friend is giving me one of his Akita puppies. She is backyard bred. I know the parents; the father is stubborn (and not real well trained). The mother seems a bit shy.
The puppy is 10 weeks old, and is the runt of the litter.
My big worry is with my 2 cats. Tommy (8yo) has been around dogs before, so I don't think that he'll be a problem. Probably just hide for a day or so. Helen (4yo, deaf) has never been around dogs. A worried about the puppy sneeking up on her, since she can't hear the puppy comming.
A good thing is that the puppy currently lives with a cat, so she knows about cats.
I know that I'll have to keep her crated for a while, until I know how she and Helen will get along.
Any other ideas? (A cat/dog door is out of the question. Since she's deaf, Helen cannot go outside!)
