We just bought our 2nd Akita, this one is a male to breed with our 1 1/2 yr old female in a couple years. We saw both parents, the father only having one ear standing. The breeder said it was due to the cartilage being broken. Our puppy is now 9 weeks old, (I know I'm expecting a lot) and only one of his ears is standing. The other ear is flopping forward, not looking very promising. If it is not hereditary, is it too soon to tape?
