worse behaved as he gets older?

by raquel

I adopted a 6-month old akita from a local pound 4 months ago. He has been a dream--supersmart, house-trained within 3 days, and a sweet dog.
BUT, as he gets older (within the last month, it seems) he seems to be getting less well behaved. He used to always come running when called and sit when told instantly. Now it takes him at least 3 times before he will sit. Also, for the first time EVER at the dog park, he disappeared and didn't come when called-disappeared for a full 20 minutes. How do I re-train him? Is there something I should be doing to reinforce what he already knows?
