I use one with my 98 lbs male Akita, but only on walks outdoors. Otherwise, he just wears his regular collar. It was suggested by the obedience trainer when I had him in classes. It works really well and keeps him from pulling hard when he sees squirrels, etc. I have also asked my vet about using it and he said that as long as it was on for outdoor walks and not all the time that it is harmless and effective.
