Hi Colleen - I appreciate the information on Rimadyl you were kind enough to provide. Apparently, as you mention, there have been numerous problems with Rimadyl with some breeds of dogs. I was referred to a site called "Senior Dogs" (check Google) which covers the matter fairly well. On the other hand, there have been numbers of successes with Rimadyl, particularly effective in extending older dogs quality of life. So I guess it all depends on the breed, the individual peculiarities, and the dogs stage of life and severity of problems.
I will be sure to keep an eye out for the symptoms you mention and check tomorrow with my vet about new NSAIDs without Rimadyl's potential side effects. I have given it to my boy for two days now at less than the recommended dosage with no ill effects that I can see. He goes back to the vet next week for blood work. One thing I can say without doubt: this stuff must taste terrific. Cody's lined up for his medication morning and night.
Thanks again,
Pete
PS The vet did mention that if Cody was allergic to Rimadyl he would vomit within an hour or two after consumption and it should be discontinued.
