As Keith suggested in an earlier email, it's important that you go online and learn all about bloat. It isn't simply swelling from water retention, or something along those lines. It involves swelling of the stomach, where the contents of the stomach -- or simply gas in the stomach, even in the absence of food -- become trapped. Then, the stomach may twist, cutting off blood circulation, resulting in shock, death of various organs, and even death of the dog. It is entirely different than the dog being fat, and as far as I know, unrelated to obesity. You ask why a vet would prescribe a food that puts the dog at risk of bloat? Because some companies sell the food to vets, and too many vets don't read their own veterinary research journals.
