Im new to the board and new to akita's. However, i have several very good resources that i pull information from. One of those resources is my breeder. Another is several other breeders that have been in the akita world for over 30 yrs.
I recently talked to my breeder, and she has spent all summer doing research on different dog foods. We have recently switched dog food from Purina Pro Plan lamb and rice to Nature's Balance ultra premium (its a dark blue bag).
Purina pro plan DOES have corn in it......the Nature's Balance DOES NOT.
Not ALL dogs can tolerate the CORN, or the SOY.(soy is not good for akita's) Not ALL breed's are the same. you have to know your dog and what they can or can not tolerate.
I have noticed that my dog which is an akita, can not tolerate the purina pro plan, but i am seeing all kind's of good results from the nature's balance.
