A Memorial To Spartan - A Tragic Puppymill Story

by

My husband bought our dog from a pet store. Within 24 hours of bringing him home, we had to rush him to our vet’s office where he stayed in intensive care for 2 weeks. He pulled through, only to develop sever arthritis at the ripe old age of 6 months. At that point, the vet gave our baby 2 years to live. We immediately put him on Deramax to alleviate the pain. He was in so much pain, he would drag himself outside, fall down and urinate on himself. He died last week at 2 ½ years of age. He went into cardiac arrest on Monday. We are heartbroken.

Unfortunately, his story is too common. He was (from what we’ve found out so far) bred by an unlicensed breeder and sold to The Hunte Corporation in Missouri, where he was shipped via tractor trailer to our local pet store.

Although his pedigree states he is an Akita, my breeder suspected that he was part wolf. His pedigree also states that he was a black & brown pinto… although he was pure white. These heartless scam artists need to be stopped now!

I have posted a page, which goes into more detail about all the surgeries and illnesses he suffered.

If you have a minute to spare, the link is here: http://www.meanstreak.biz/meanstreak/spartan.html

If we all join together, we can begin to end the misery that these money hungry, puppy mill conglomerates create. From the research I've done so far, it appears that Spartan was illegally sold to The Hunte Corporation.

Sincerely,
Denise Samouilidis

P.S. If you’d like more information, I’d be happy to forward it to you.
