new Akita owner

by Evina

Hello!!
I am a new Akita owner, i took him from my uncle 2 months ago, now Fred (its name) is 10 months old. The first days he was ok but 1 month later (after we took him) he bitten my mother without a reason. The truth is my mom tried few days before to punish him for digging in a pot. We were scared to death because i had read all the thinks about the akita's aggressive behaviour. After that incident and till my mom went to him and talked to him (1 day later) he was realy sad, we thought he was ill. Now i gave him for training (a week ago) hoping not to have any problem with him in the future, but i don't know, I always thought that dogs are realy easy going with its boss (i don't like this word)now i read all these things about akitas and i am really wondering if i ever going to have with Fred the kind of relationship i thought. I don't want to be scared of my dog!!!
Beside all these i have to mentioned that i have a cat 15 years old who i adore and i don't want to think in any case that he might be killed by Fred, so far they seem to get along good with each other but i don't trust Fred. I read everywhere things about akitas that make my feel unsafe, even from akitas owners that i thought that they would be more positive.
Is anybody really happy having this dog and could anybody tell me that he or she has the kind of relation that i know people have with their dogs?
I want a devoted and loving dog not just a dog for show off!!
Ofcourse i have read all yhe stories about the akitas that adore their families but how can this happen since bitting a member of their family is so often!!!
I come from Greece, so please forgive me for any mistakes!
