dont believe everything you read ! if you discipline an akita physically , it will most likely retaliate . you need to spend time with fred and be gentle with him . he has been re-located and this can be upsetting for a dog . i have two male akitas , who were both rescued and niether dog is aggressive . it will take time for fred to settle , so be gentle and caring and firm . good luck
