1st Akita

by Amanda

#1) buy from a reputable breeder that has been breeding SHOW Akitas for at least 20 years.
#2) choose your breeder based on her/his reputation for good tempraments (ask at dog shows)
#3) find and join a local Akita club
#4) attend dog shows and learn everything you can about the breed
#5) google AKITA and read read read!!!

Akitas are mostly good with children, and there are some guidelines for introducing a baby into the house. You also must watch later in life as the Akita may misinterpret boisterous play as agression towards your child and move to protect him/her.

Most importantly, Akitas are individuals and each one must be treated as such.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not buy the 1st beautiful Akita puppy that you see. Too many of us have made that mistake.
