Dear Amanda

Thank you for your post. You are so right about your post but the problem is, in Turkey, Akita breed is very rare so we don't have any Akita group of some sort. I can't even pick my pup by examining him. That, both upsets and freaks me off also. Any breed with guarding instinct got to be examined and than decided which one to have or not. Because our puppy will be imported I can only try to understand his temperament from video and photos that they will send me... This will be like a gamble of some sort. Well said in your post; I've Googled Akita and read about almost everything that I did/didn't need to know. So I know that eventually I will confront that "I am the leader" behaviour from our Akita. So as I can predict that coming, I read everything what I must do to avoid it. I know how to train dogs but Goldens and Akitas are really opposite. Now I have a good knowledge of what a "fair leader of the pack" must do.

And introducing our future baby to our akita have some ways as I've read but the main thing starts with the baby blanket introduced to our akita before out baby comes to the house I think. Than always watch and be carefull with them all the time until our baby understands and also respects our akita also.

As I said the problem that make me think twice is I won't be able to examine the pups and decide which is more dominant which is submissive... I will try to overcome this situation in some way, if I can't maybe akita is not the best breed for us As you all say the pup had to be selected properly, not just purchased...

Thanks again
