I stopped feeding my babies dog food and need some advice.

I read about an Akita breeder that feeds her dogs only " people " food and I can't find the page again. I have read about what's in dog food and I won't give my Akita's anything that I am not willing to eat. I need some advice on what's good for them and how much. Do I feed them the same amount of the mix that I did of dog food ?? I have a 10 month old male and a 5 month old female.
I have started them on ground beef , rice , carrots , green beans and peas. Is this wrong or should I add something or take something away ??
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
