New Baby

by JC

I was in the same position as you about 5 years ago. My male does not like strangers at all. When the baby was born, my husband took a blanket home that same day, and continued to bring a blanket home for the dog until the day I came home. When we got home, he went in first, with a blanket in his hand. We waited outside. After the dog sniffed the blanket for a little while, and then the baby and I came in. I sat down on a chair, and kept the baby on my lap. The dog came over(followed closely by my husband), sniffed the baby's head, and proceded to give him a bath. I have never had any problems with the two, other than when my son decided he wanted to be a dog. He ate with the dog, slept with the dog, the whole 9 yards. The two are best of friends. Just take things easy, and make sure to shower your dog with love. Make your dog a part of the new baby process, and you should be fine. Good Luck!
