I have been coresponding with a breeder and have some concerns. First, the breeding was supposedly accidental, with the bitch being about 20 months old when the puppies were born. She's not OFA, but according to the breeder, she has been prelimed. The only health issues the breeder seems to be willing to discuss is hips and PRA. I have found on a number of websites that Akitas are also prone to other problems, such as: skin, immunity issues, thyroid problems, to name a few. I would like to know if there are clearances that are recommended beyond hips and elbows. In other words, should I forget about this breeder? Thanks.
