Akitas have been known to suffer from auto immune diseases that can bare symptoms that manifest themselves as skin problems. It could be an auto immune problem or it could be the advantage. They can also have allergies.
Have you asked your vet about the Advantage and how long have you used it? Have the bald spots shown up recently since using the Advantage? Lots of questions here. I wouldn't jumpt to conclusions about it being a disorder until you have ruled out the Advantage.
I would speak to the vet and quit using advantage if you suspect he could be having a reaction to it. You know, if the bald spots are very recent, I would go ahead and take him in to see what the vet says and possibly put him on antibiotics.
