If it looks like blood as you describe instead of brownish urine, its a downstream problem and probably not the kidneys or bladder. And at that age, in an intact male, with the presentation of blood as you described, its almost a sure thing that its a prostate problem. Do you know what the pH of the urine is? It probably wont be a bladder stone unless the pH is elevated- say 8 or more.
I understand your concern with anesthesia, but 9.5 isnt really much of a concern on a healthy dog that should live to be 12 or so. Well, more of a concern than ir always will be when your baby has to be knocked out. You are definately doing the right thing. Let me know how it goes and the diagnosis. Good Luck! |
