Eternal Rhythms

November 30 2000 at 8:10 AM

Advance
and retreat
of our
urgent
bodies;
shared
nighttime
noises
like humpback
whales
cresting,
sounding;
fingers flicking
like sirens' tongues,
like belly dancers
swiveling a path
far into
rich
canyons
one turn
at a time;
coils unwinding
in slower
and slower
motion;
bodies beach
on supple sand
as sweet
and salty
as a dolphin's smile
or mermaids'
speckled sighs.
