got the best of me.
I needed to hear
those reassuring words
from your lips.
I asked the question
and your answer
disconnected my jawbone
tied my tongue
into a slip knot
left my cheek red
and stinging and
my eyes all wet.
I just had to ask
so I took the chance
and let the air
out of my own balloon.
