O let us escape to a wild wilder place
In the touch of your skin and the look of your face
Let us lie hot in our sweat for a while
And sleep once again with the hint of a smile
Let me escape from the sound of the sea
And the bright early light, and the space that is me
Let me drink deep of the salt of your life
Undo your knots like a silversweet knife
Wrap all your wounds in the scent of my flesh
Join strands of two moments in one jewelled mesh
Hear my pain and my pity with no more translation
Release all my fears with love's warm transformation
Make me feel strong; take my strength; hold me hard
Let me slip your defences and make you my guard
Let us sleep heavy dreaming coccooned far away
Then rise to drink wine in the heat of the day
