Hi,

I donīt know anything about monitors.. (saddly), and I need some help with my monitor, First it began displaying a VERY bright white thin line, so I had to shut it down and start it up a few times, then it was ok for a few minutes then it did it again, but now it kind of dead, it does display some light at the top of the screen, well.. thats about it. Anyone know what might be wrong ?

Hi was the line horizontal or vertical from what you are saying about being bright at the top I guess it was horizontal in which case the vertical output has failed, this can be caused by a number of things from dry/broken joints on the vertical output chip, failed output chip, or failed supply rail if this is a dual rail type ie + and - rails, or capacitors connected to the chip or the vertical oscilator section in the sync processor chip. With the little detail you gave us about your monitor ie make model chassis or FCC ID numbers that is as good as you are going to get.

How will i know which of these things are wrong ?

Iīve opened it up.. and Im trying to see some visual proof of what is wrong but as I said I dont really know alot about monitors.. so any ideas,

p.s.

I turned it back on and it was black (with a litle white in the corners) for a few sec, and now its normal again.. so.. again no clue,

Hi you will not see the problem as mostly there are no phsyical signs unless a blow up has occured and normally you would here or smell this type of problem.

The vertical chip will either be a TDA???? or LA78??
look for broken solder joints on this chip.
