compaq S910 pe1132 problem

Hi,

I just bought 3 Compaq s910 monitors and I have a problem with 2 of them.

1: Takes a while untill power supply works (10sec or so)(first you hear small ticks)

2: Same problem as 1 , but also vertical amp problem. not 100% screensize, distortion if moved up and down. Horizontal size is ok
Works with TDA4861 vert amp --> replaced it and still the same problem.

1 must be a common fault, anyone can help me out on this?
Thx in advance,

Luke

Check NP elkos in primary PWM IC supply.
I think 470nf/400v * 1 pcs or so is good replacement.

Also check the two 100uf 250V non polarised capacitors just behind the power switch. I have found these to cause intermittent power on or no power on; these are in the circuit that feeds the supply to the PWM chip.

compaq S910 slow power up

Thanks for your valuable information...
I have a compaq S910 PE1132 that was doing that takes 1 minute to turn on.....
takes 5 mins to turn on.....
until finally it just got ridiculous
takes 1 hour to turn on.....
thingy---
Time to fix it, your information was extemely valuable.

The 2 bipolar 1uF 250V capacitors right behind the Power Switch (C843 and C829.. I think) in series were the culprits. Actually only C843 NEEDED replacing, it had leaked electrolyte onto the PCB and had sweated down to <.5uF and yes there is a darkened area on the PCB from heat around these items!

I replaced my caps with 1uF 350V polarised caps I picked up from a local electronics store seeings how the PCB has the polarity shown for them (the curved line is negative end). And viola, works as soon as it is turned on - and it enters standby mode correctly now too!

Thanks again for the information

Is it possible you might have a Q401 listed in your unit....I've a Compaq V910 and wondered and hoped it might be one and the same component. Mine is a large 3pin comfiguration mounted to large heatsink. 1 pin hardwired to 450wv electrolytic. Sound familiar?!? (Crosses fingers)

I have the same problem with my Compaq S910. The vertical is compressed on the top halve of the monitor. I have changed the 2 electrolytes c305 and c318 to no avail. Did you replaced the vertical IC I301 TDA4861?
