I have Viewsonic PT810 21 inch monitor that has intermittent power up problems. When the monitor is turned on, it tries to turn on (green power light turns on) and then immediately shuts down (the green light also turns into red).
Once the monitor encounters the problem, no matter how many times you power it up/down, the problem will not clear for weeks or even a month. After that all of sudden on next power up, it turns on OK.
Does it look like a bad capacitor in the power supply? I will really appreciate any help.
Thanks.
Dave

I have the exact same problem with my Viewsonic PT810. During power up, I hear a click, and the green light turns red while the monitor powers off.
I've discovered that I can get the monitor to start up only if I lean the screen (not easy, it's heavy) forward about 30 degrees from vertical. Then, I slowly tip the monitor back and pray that it doesn't shut down. It sounds to me that it's some kind of relay switch that's flaky.
Have you figured out a fix?
Thanks,
Michael Rice
