hello
I have a ctx pr960f that needs internal adjustment. i checked if screen was cranked up accidentally, but its still fixed with paint.
there are a couple of other pots for adjustments labled : TLV, YCH, YBH, H.TRP (horizontal trap?) and further CBH and APH.
can anyone tell me what these pots are for and if turning down sreen (left or right turn?) will solve my problem?
many thanks

The controls TLV etc are on the scan coil mounted to the CRT, these controls will not affect brightness only convergence so you will hava a bright out of convergence picture.
The G2 or Screen control on CTX is electronic and only available via a service menu or software setup.
The fact that it is bright suggests that the feedback resistor has increased in value.
The G2 circuit will be on the main brd follow wire from CRT base brd connected to G2 pin.

Dear Rich,
many thanks for your reply. Could you tell me the resistor numbers (eg. R414) of the feedback resistors in question and mail me schematics/service manual if you have one?

Hi guys,
Thanks for the tip with "+"&"-" at power on.
It gave a sort of extension of the settings menu which allowed me to set up colors and brightness at "Color>User" menu, experimenting with RGB and BIAS values provided there. It also provides some more geometry (I presume) parameters but I haven't any reasons to play with them.
Also, it seems that if you take out the power cord and reconnect it keeping +&- depressed while switching power on the position and geometry settings are reset to a sort of default. I havent experiment more with it because it's set OK now and I don't wanna disturb it

after some trying i managed to activate somehow something called SPECIAL in osd which gives access to the colorbias of the coclor presets. when i turn down all the bias, R+G+B to zero its somehow aceptable, but i would call it a dirty method, can according to the service manual, the screen control at the FBT be used? cause it was not included in the special menue, neither the overall brightness.

Have you guys had any luck solving this problem? I have 2 of these, both too bright. A friend says fly-back transformer may be bad, but i'm no expert (or even a novice). Any suggestions? I have no problems dismantling these babies and adjusting some pots.
Thanks!
jason
