Compaq V1100 Power

Good Day All!

I have 3 Compaq V1100 monitors that will not turn on. All have the exact same symptoms, no little green light on the front. The fuse is fine, and the AC is getting to the main pcb fine. I can "hear" a "tic tic tic" sound with the cover and shroud removed and the 0/1 turned on. Have not checked pwr at any other point as of yet.

Thanks for any starting point!

It's the HOT 2SC5445 (I have "7591" in my notes, I think it's the location), and 2SJ448 (4603).

Good luck ...

Having same symptoms with Compaq V1100...

I'm having the exact same symptoms. Have the schematics; appears the 2SJ448 is indeed at 4603, but I'm showing the 2SC5445 at 7502 - 7591 doesn't appear to be listed at all that I can see.

Assuming these are both bad (which appears to be a common failure), I see some recommend to check a certain diode that's in the circuit as well as the filter capacitors - can somebody please tell me specifically which diode, and the where it and the filter capacitors are located? I don't want to replace both of these and end up with a failure because the cap's are shot, but am not sure which cap(s) I should verify.

Thanks,

Sprout

Hi Randal,

Did you get the monitors working again? I have the same problem with my v1100 and would appreciate knowing how you repaired them.

Thanks.

Gabriel

Hi all,

Same problem with my MAG 810FD,
while using it the picture has shrinked left to right till no picture at all.

Checked and found bad 2SC5445 and 2SJ512 (I guess - it has J512 writing on it). As I understand it is caused by bad B+ voltage that results from bad filter capacitors ??

How did you manage to solve the problem ?

Thanks
