I got the monitor free with a computer and 2 months later it got real blurry where I couldn't read text. Then a couple days after I turned it on and it was fine. Then in another month I went to turn it on and it just made clicking sounds and the led just cycled through red and green while the screen remained blank. I opened it up and tried it and I can see a spark in a metal box that is soldered together behind the tube.

My question is can I fix this for cheap or have it fixed for cheap or should I just junk it?

I used to mess around with electronics when I was in school but I have no repair experience.

From looking at this forum I've concluded that compaq monitors are shit, lol.

Its arcing. You can put some electrical tape between the spot but this is only a short fix you should get it repair.
