Sony laptop screen tests

I have a Sony Vaio laptop with a broken LCD sceen. I have replaced both the inverter and backlight but stil it fails to work. This is becomming an expensive repair, although I did get the components at a reasonable price, but if I have to keep buying components it could end up costing more than a new laptop.

I have a digital multi-meter, are there some test I can do to determine which components are faulty?

Can I check for something going into and coming out of the inverter with the multi-meter?

Many thanks
Trev.

You will have a minimum of 4 connections.

VCC = this will be anything from 5V up to the battery voltage most usually are the battery voltage.

Gnd = chassis.

Brightness = some voltage between about 1V to 3.5V changes when brightness is altered.

Enable = 0V lamp off 3.5V lamp on

Check lid switch.
