An attempt was made at degaussing a Toshiba 27A41C TV set using a conventional degauss coil, the process seems to work successfully for as long as the set remains on... however when turned off and back on after several minutes, the problem returns on the upper left corner area of the screen (darker area noticeable on a totally blue or white picture, i.e.: no specific RGB color blotches) once more it can be degaussed but lasting only until set is turned off again. Attempted degauss procedure with set off, same result.
NOTE: no magnets or loudspeakers have ever been near the set nor set ever exposed to a lightning storm's EMP.
Is there anything else that can be done about this annoying problem or could there be a "permanent" distorsion of the shadow mask in this case...?
