I have gratefully learned much through reading this forum, and have repaired a number of these monitors with adjusting the value of one of the 10 meg resistors as commonly outlined. My problem is that although the screens are very good at the default settings after the repairs, the brightness controls cause the colors to shift unacceptably. I noticed that when I use the color restore function, some monitors start with a rich blue color and step their way to grey, and some start with rich green on their way to grey at the default brightness at 31 setting. I assume that eventually I will also see some starting at red, though I have not yet found that to be the case.
My question is, what might be causing this problem, and what are the possible areas to look at to diagnose this? Is this simply (as in $imply pay $ony) a DAS adjustment issue? Or is there something else likely to be going on?
Also, has anyone figured out how to get into the eprom settings without boxing these units up and shipping them to Sony? |
