I have a problem with my Dell Monitor, when I power it up it sounds like the Caps are charging and discharging as it tries to power up and shuts down right away and keeps cycling like this.

Can anyone help me please and suggest what I can do do rectify this.

Thanks

Andy

Probably bad FBT

Sounds like bad internal cap in the FBT. Very common failure. I stock a replacement of this FBT for $39.99 shipped in the USA.

I checked the FBT and it seems OK. I have just tested the MOSFET Q901 and this is short.
The transistor is a IRFI9634 I cannot get one of these but I have ordered an IRFI 9630 which seems the same spec.

Thanks for your reply anyway.

Regards

Andy

Hello Andy,

FYI : IRFI9634G is available at Bluestar in the US
( www.bluestar-online.com ) . They have a lot of monitor parts and reasonable shipping.

Hi Andy,
Just want to know if I am experiencing the same problem with my P991. I had it since Dec 2000. Now when I turn on my P991, all I hear are click, click, click... as if the monitor is trying to power on but it couldn't.
I don't have any electronic background, but from the description of your problem, it seems that my P991 is having the same problem as yours.
Were you able to fix it yourself? I was about to have my P991 fixed at a local shop for $80.00. I wonder if it's worth it.
Need your advice. Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Thomas
