Just purchased a NEC MultiSync E1100+ 21" monitor for $60 CAN.
Other than the brightness, the monitor is in perfect condition. Basically, with the brightness level turned all the way down, it's almost as bright as one of it's perfectly functional counterparts when the brightness is set to a tad above normal conditions. Right now I'm simply controlling the brightness level through my video cards controls, but it still doesn't quite give that same picture quality.
Any help on adjusting the brightness level would be greatly appreciated.

Anything at all would help... A suggestion, a schematic... Anything at all. I'm opening up my monitor in a couple of days so I can give this thing a thorough paint job, and I'd love it if I could fix this problem at the same time. Just a rough idea on what I should be looking for will help A LOT.
