I was reading an article on SF newspaper, they said that some companies are recycling monitors by sending them to China where they were be converted into TV's. I discussed the issue with some friends. Some said it is possible because labor is cheap there and even with only a very small profit, someone will do it. Some said it is not possible because of the design between monitors and TVs. Also, new TVs are so cheap and it is not worth to spend $100 dollars to $200 to convert a 14" monitor to a TV. You can get a bigger TV for such price. Just want to hear some opinions from other professionals see whether this (convert monitor to TV) is possible or not? Or is some companies just use it as an excuse to ship our electronic junks overseas?

The other thing is that monitor CRT's with the finer dot pitch are not as bright as a TV CRT, beam current for TV CRT is around 1mA where as a 14" 0.28 monitor CRT is about 450uA.
