Sony G500 21" vertical 'ghost' lines? out of focus?

Hey there all.
Just bought a used 21" G500. Fixed the 'brightness' issue by using the 'image restore' function described in this forum. Been here 10 minutes and already saved myself a packet. Thanks :D

Onto more serious issues...
My monitor kind of doubles-up on text vertically. It's apparent all over the screen, but is most noticeable on text and on horizontal lines, especially on underlined text.

It makes text look kind of 'low res', and aliased. It's not a 'soft' out of focus issue, it's still quite sharp, just looks kinda like the convergence is out vertically, but with out the red/blue colours showing. My second monitor is nice and sharp: an Apple branded 17" sony trinitron and you can just move text from on to the other and see the difference.

I have a three month warranty on it, so if it's able to be corrected, I want to do it sooner than later.

Anyone else had this symptom with the G500?

Thanks in advance
Bart

Have you tried the vertical convergence settings in the menu.

You will need a test program to display a crosshatch/grid of red + blue and then white.

Hi Rich. Thanks for your reply.

Yes I tried all three vertical convergence options. I also downloaded and tried 'SuperCal' and tried the inbuilt MAC OSX calibration apps. Still have the same problem. I've noticed, however, that it's worst when the monitor starts, and by about 30mins or so, it's better, but not ok.

Is there any other tests/apps someone could suggest I try? I'm running Mac OSX 10.3.5?

Thanks
Bart

If you have a warranty on it, take it back to where you bought it from if the problem can't be corrected by user controls.

Thanks for your help and advice.

I'm just about to leave to get it looked at.

Cheers
