hi, im new to the boards, and ive been doing some searching, ive found the solution to the OVER bright problem, and im confident i can fix that, but im not an electrician nor a repair man, and the responses ive seen for other monitors with diagonal lines problem involved schematics to replace IC's which im pretty sure i wont be able to do.

so what i would like to know is what is the correct method to fix the Dell P1110 Diagonal lines problem?

If it is too difficult for me to do, can anybody recommend a Local repair shop in the East Midlands Area of England.

PS. If people are not sure what the diagonal lines problem is, it is the appearance of many feint white diagonal lines parralel to each other appearing on screen, strong to start with and lighter as the monitor warms up. and more annoying as the days go on

The diagonal lines are the vertital scan retrace that is visible because the background it too bright.

Curing the overbright will clear the diagonal lines.

im not too sure of that, i will be replacing resistor tommorow or adding another 10M one tommorow. Reason why i say im not sure is becus this problem wasnt apparent until recently, whereas the brightness problem has existed for about 8 months now.

The blanking signal has a finite level when the brightness increases beyond the ability of the blanking signal to blank it out then these lines will show.

i fitted a 10m resistor parralel to R459 and ALL is fixed, diagonal lines: GONE, Overbright: GONE, Expanding and retracting Screen: GONE

im a very happy chappy.
