Hi All
I have just scored a Sony GDM-5010PT monitor that starts up for a
split second then goes into a fault code. Manual says yellow(1.5sec)
Off (.5sec) = Horizontal/Verticle Deflection failure, thermal
protector? Are they talking about fuseable resistors?.
If someone could just point me into the right area to start looking
that would be a great help, I have the workshop manual and have
checked all the fuseable resistors in both power supply and HV
circuit boards.
Thanks for any reply.

Hi,

I have the same problem with a GDM-500 21" monitor. I'm able to start it for a short time by pushing the middle of the 5 buttons on the right. The screen will bright up with random colors and immediately shutdown.

Looking for the same info about where to look for defective parts.

Thnaks

The GDM-5010PT and GDM-500PS are both Sony N3 chassis. Far and away the most common failure is IC007 CXA2043Q, which can result in many types of problems. Search this group, as well as http://www.anatekcorp.com/faq/monitor.htm and the sci.electronics.repair archives http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search for CXA2043Q, and you will gets lots of hits/info.

Try posting your request on the aus.electronics newsgroup. Might get a source from regulars there.
