Hi -

I have a ViewSonic VP140 that shuts off after a few minutes.

The green light on the power supply stays on and there is still a signal coming from the computer. The power light on the monitor goes off and won't come back on.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I should also add that the problem seems to get progressivly worse.

First time the monitor is turned on it takes about 10 minutes to shut off. I have to unplug it for a few minutes to get it to turn back on. Once on it will shut off in a minute or so. Unplugging again and letting it sit will result in it only staying on for a few seconds, etc....

I'm going to open it up and dive in with my multi-meter when I get home tonight. I've done a lot of research on possible problems and schematics as well as monitor repair techniques but if anyone can offer some experienced guidence as to where I can begin my search that would be helpful.

Thanks.

Check the DC adapter is producing 14V on load and if you have a scope check for ripple.

I have the service manual but it is an 18M PDF

dc adapter is producing almost 13.

I'll see if I can borrow a scope tonight and check out the rest.

Thanks.

Can you use winzip to make the file smaller?

I setup one of my email accounts to be able to take attachments of that size temporarily. It should go through if you send it to:
matt.balogh@wingspaninc.com

Of course if you can zip it up smaller that would be helpful.

Thanks.

Winzip or Winrar do not compress PDF's as they are already compressed the only reason for using either is to split the files into more managable sizes.
