I have inherited this LiteOn A1770NSL, manufactured 1999.It has excellent focus, good colour, but the horizontal image is stretched past the edges of the screen. The on-screen menu works fine, but adjusting horizontal size does not make any difference.

Can anyone help with this?

i have the same problem with my AOC 4Vn monitor.I've read it's a problem with circuit near the vertical section of the circuit.Also it could be a defective capacitor on the power supply,
A certain circuit they say,creates a rectified sine wave which could make the adjustment for horizontal width,if this is defective then you can't make any adjustment for the horizontal.It's much more difficult to fix if you have a digital monitor,because the circuit could be on the chip somewhere on the monitor circuit board.
