Hi, I have a Compaq 5017 monitor that came with my Presario P.C. The monitor will power up with a perfect picture for a second and then go to incredibly dark picture where nothing is visible without really squinting and looking closely. When it is powered on it acts as if its turning on fine the picture comes right up like everything is normal then everything gets incredibly dark, so dark ya'd think it was off if you didnt look close enough. This happens both when the monitor is plugged into the comp. and w/ video unplugged. I put an old monitor on the comp for the time being with no problems. I also got a new power chord for the monitor all with no luck. The monitor isnt even a couple years old yet. Any help would be appreciated on how to fix this. Thanks

Hi this is the usual chicken and egg situation it is either tired lamps or faulty inverter or failed capacitor on the main PCB causing the monitor to shut the lamps down.
