Just a line in the center of the screen from top to bottom. Unable to get the value on a burnt resistor, board location 3550 Anyone have an idea what brand this monitor is... It has a Hitachi picture tube so that cancels the SONY brand out.

Replaced the resistor but it burns up within a few minuets of it running…Any ideas? I’m thinking maybe the yolk has a short on the horizontal winding

Hi what value are you using for the resistor it is a 1R5 1/4W fusible.

Does it die instantly of after a while, this unit suffers from FBT failure with violent flashover and although the EHT and H-Scan are seperate it does kill this resistor during the flashover's.

1/4 Resistor

Yes I’m using the 1/4 watt fusible resistor. I bought a few resistors to work with (trial and error). After powering up with the first replacement I heard the horizontal ring and it was changing pitched drastically. I was waiting for a scrambled picture to come up but within just a few seconds I saw the smoke and it was the same resistor I just replaced. I took off the resistor and powered it up to see if I it'd power up as before and thank god it did. (No horizontal sweep, tube HV charge and just the line in the center). Next I put the resistor back in could hear horizontal sweep chirp a bit then went away totally with no HV tube charge and smoke from the new resistor. The resistor is just off a coil (that looks like got hot too) and a SCR transistor. Then the it goes to the on board transformer you see in yellow on the picture. Is this typical in this monitor for this to happen. I don’t see any threads on this monitor so thought I was alone on this one. Dose it sound like the Flyback’s at fault? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Doug

Hi I was more interested in the resistance value rather than the wattage.

Check transistor 7630 BU2527A from collector to emitter should be higher than 100K in circuit.

Coil 5503 should be 20mH.
