Sony G420 Problem

I have a 2 year old Sony G420 display driven by a 3 year old Matrox G550 video card.

Over the past couple of months I've noticed about a dozen pairs of parallel red & green lines -- each pair about 3/4 inch apart at 75 Hertz -- running slightly off horizontal (say around 20 degrees) across my display.

When I change refresh rates the distance between line pairs increases as I go to a lower refresh -- at 65 Hertz the lines increase to about 1 1/4 inch's apart. I've tried changing video drivers -- didn't work.

I'm wondering if it's the Sony monitor thats at fault because the lines are visible when the computer is off but the monitor is on.

It's (my very limited) understanding that the Sony is one gun tube therefor gun alignment should not be a problem?

Does anyone have any ideas?

And if it's the monitor anyone know of a Vancouver BC area repair depot that will fix the problem?

Thx for your help...jim

There is a simple resistor fix for this problem, see

Your monitor and the P1130 are the same Sony chassis.

But first, try the 'Image Restoration' feature available in your OSD color menus. Monitor must be powered on for a minimum of 30 minutes without going into power save mode for this option to be available. This is all that is required in many cases.

Let us know how you make out.
